Everly Wren

Everly Wren Boehlke was born Sept. 17th at 2:13pm. What a joy! What a responsibility!

Birthing a baby is, without a doubt, the most amazing experience Jonny and I have had as a couple. Jonny was an amazing support person throughout the whole labor and delivery, and while I was pushing, his excitement was spilling over and giving me strength. With every push he was so excited to see her progress, and I wanted so badly to get this baby out, not just for me, but so Jonny could finally meet his daughter. What a feeling, to hold my baby for the first time! Part of my thoughts began soaring through all of the years ahead of us, marking this special moment as the beginning of it all. Part of my thoughts were fixated on this very present, tiny person who was crying in my arms.

One week later, I’m still in awe. Such a tiny person, with a personality yet to be known and a future yet to be made. One one hand, she is a pool of possibility, and on the other hand, even if she was a baby forever, I would love her fervently forever.

Not only is my love blazing hot for this baby girl, I have never loved my husband more than I do when he is holding our daughter. I’m amazed at God’s creation that He would allow us to come together to make such a beautiful being. What a divine, loving, all-knowing God! Is there a more beautifully designed system than the family, as God intended it?

Recalling the downward spiral of my life in my early teenage years, I can only weep with gratitude that God plucked me from my sin and compelled me to follow His design for relationships, marriage, and children. I don’t mean to say we are a model family. I mean to say that without His grace and intervention in my life, I would not even have this family.

I’ve never been more excited for the next season of my life. God’s grace has blessed me this far and I know it will continue to sustain me.

With gratitude,

Lots has happened

So….last year around April I posted last. Also last year in April I started a relationship with this guy….and believe it or not, we met on this blog 5+ years ago. So I guess this blog has really changed my life. That’s kind of amazing! God works in mysterious ways. I never would have imagined that I’d meet my future husband online. What’s that? “Future husband?” Yes, we’re engaged….I haven’t been blogging any of this? I guess not. That’s embarrassing. The most important year of my life so far and it isn’t even on my blog for all the world to see….
Well! You know what they say! New year, new me! Just kidding. It’s still Ellie. I haven’t changed at all since December 31st, 2017. But I might just start blogging more….Or not. But either way, here’s some of the news you missed!

Jonny proposed, and it made the news.

Here’s our engagement photos:

Isn’t that crazy?
The big day is April of this year. I can hardly believe it! This is going to be awesome….

Entering the New Year with gusto!

Psalm 103

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
 who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
 who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
He made known his ways to Moses,
his acts to the people of Israel.
The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
 He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
 For he knows our frame;
he remembers that we are dust.

 As for man, his days are like grass;
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.
But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him,
and his righteousness to children’s children,
to those who keep his covenant
and remember to do his commandments.
The Lord has established his throne in the heavens,
and his kingdom rules over all.

Bless the Lord, O you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his word,
obeying the voice of his word!
Bless the Lord, all his hosts,
his ministers, who do his will!
Bless the Lord, all his works,
in all places of his dominion.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!

Describe Heaven

This post calls on my readers’ participation. I want to know what you think heaven will be like. I was given a writing prompt to “describe heaven” and after I was done, I was really curious as to what other people’s versions of “complete happiness in Christ” would be. Don’t use my description as a model. Just give me what you would first say when told, “Describe Heaven.”

Well heaven is certainly different than some silly things I hear. I will not be peering down on earth, watching the proceedings, and sending snow and blessings. I don’t even think I’ll notice the earth at all. No, I will be dancing! I will be dancing and singing and laughing and crying. Dancing with balloons for feet and wings for arms. Dancing with every ache and care gone. I’ll dance for the greatest reason there ever was the dance. I suppose it doesn’t get much better than dancing for Jesus. I can’t imagine anything better.

Happy New Year!

Journal on the past few days

Leading up to the wedding I was in a state of numbness. I got excited, but not emotional. Which was good! Otherwise I couldn’t have survived! But I stopped to just think—wait, my brother is getting married—and at those times I was absolutely astounded. It is so bizarre, but so natural that Billy and Sarah should be joined. I still can’t believe it!

Glimpses into my journal: (Don’t ask who I’m talking to, that’s just how I journal.)

October 12th 2013 At the reception hall in the van

Tomorrow? You’ve got to be kidding. Tomorrow Billy is getting married? My brother Billy? That’s a good one! My brother kissing? Incredible.

But I tell you what, if it was anyone but Sarah I wouldn’t believe you. If it was anyone but him I could never believe Sarah was getting married.

My brother hugging someone? Yes, my brother.

My brother kissing someone?

Yes, tomorrow he will give his first kiss to his first and only girl.

My brother a husband?

You better believe it!

If that doesn’t beat all….

October 13th 2013 on the sofa

Whoa! You have got to be kidding. For serious? My brother is getting married!

Maybe my body understands that if I could comprehend it all I would bust, so it won’t let me comprehend it, hopefully until I am alone.

This is incredible.

October 14th 2013 on the floor by the bed

It is done. It has really happened. I have a new sister. She was absolutely, without a doubt, the most beautiful bride I have ever seen or ever will see. She was absolutely radiant. Billy was by far, without a doubt, the handsomest groom I have ever seen or ever will see (save mine, if/when he comes!). He looked so much better in a brown vest and pirate boots than he ever would have in a suit or tux. Even his curly hair looked right for the day. I got a little shiver as Billy leaved over to kiss Sarah and when he picked her up to carry her up the aisle, it was all I could do not to cry!

Sarah, Billy, God bless you! October 13th 2013 rivals for the best day of my life!

Congratulations Billy and Sarah Jackson!

For serious!

Read My Story!!!!

I must apologize for not blogging. I am very busy, believe me!

My brother is engaged! He is planning on getting married October 13th, 2013.

Thus, I am busy!

Second, I go to Wisconsin tomorrow! I am terribly excited and I will try to take all the pictures I can! It’s the awesomest place I’ve ever been! We are still trying to get packed, get food ready for the 10-11 hour drive, and pack the van.

Thus, I am busy!

But I haven’t completely forgotten my blogger friends. I do have pictures I have drawn, but the picture I am working on I cannot show you. Not yet! 😉 Instead, I have something for y’all to read. I found and read over one of my old drafts, from June 2013, Camp Nanowrimo. I think it is my favorite draft that I have. I made a cover for it awhile ago….

To be sure, I have plans to change some things in it, but I want to let y’all read it and critique it. Please be ruthless with the story, and please be kind to me!

If a doc. doesn’t work for you somehow, let me know and I’ll try to email it to you, but it will be after I return from Wisconsin.

NOTE: If an italicized sentence or portion is not expressly a thought of a character, then it is subject to removal and is italicized just for me. I’ve also written notes for myself, just ignore them, if you want.
